Summer time in the Sierras is truly magical.
While it is true that the Sierra Nevadas are a delight to visit year-round, the area is inarguably most well-renowned for its incredible snow. In fact, our area holds the world record for the most snow fall ever recorded in a single month. It is a coveted and highly desired destination in the winter months for that very reason. What most people fail to realize, however, is the plethora of activities available in the summer. For the avid outdoorsman, the possibilities are limitless. However, the area offers family activities that most people are not privy too, simply because of the rural setting.
The Cedar Center in Arnold hosts free concerts in the park every weekend starting in mid June and ending in late August. Classic car shows, the infamous Jumping Frog Jubilee, Arnold’s Independence Day parade, farmer’s markets, flea markets, and music festivals are just some of the great summer activities one can expect to enjoy when visiting the region. Of course, the rugged terrain and unique beauty of the area offer a variety of outdoore activities, if that is more up your alley.
High Alpine Meadows, wildflowers, incredible wild life viewing opportunities, fresh air, and breathtaking views of the Sierras are just some of the things one can expect to enjoy when visiting the region in the summer. River rafting expeditions on the Stanislaus River are quite popular during the early summer months when snow melt feeds the river. The Pacific Crest Trail meanders through the region and provides an unforgettable escape from the hustle and bustle of every day life. Rich California history also lies hidden in the Mokelumne and Carson-Iceberg wildnernesses, such as the famous and equally mysterious Monty Wolfe cabin. Old groth giant Sequoias stand sentry at the feet of the mountains, while the melodies of Stellar Jays, Robins, and Red-Tail Hawks echo serenely through the trees.
Summer in the Sierras is one of the most magical times of all.
